1. Introduction

Karjay (“Karjay”, “we”, “us” or “our”) is a new Irish platform for managing car ownership - motor insurance, NCT, motor tax and more. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use and protect your personal data when you join our early-access waitlist or interact with this website.

We are committed to protecting your privacy and handling your data in an open and transparent manner, in line with the EU General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) and the Irish Data Protection Act 2018.

2. Who We Are (Data Controller)

The data controller responsible for your personal data is Karjay Limited, based in Ireland. If you have any questions or want to exercise your rights, you can reach us at info@karjay.ie.

3. Information We Collect

At this coming-soon stage, we only collect the information you actively give us:

• Name and email address - when you sign up for early access via the hero or final call-to-action form.
• Consent records - whether you opted in to optional marketing, the exact wording you agreed to, and the date and time you gave consent.
• Basic technical data - such as which form you signed up from and when you joined, so we can manage our waitlist.

4. How We Use Your Information

We use the information we collect to:

• Add you to the Karjay early-access waitlist.
• Send you essential early-access and launch updates, and a welcome message.
• Send optional marketing (news, product updates and offers) only if you separately opted in.
• Understand overall interest in Karjay so we can improve our launch.

5. Legal Basis for Processing

We rely on your consent (Article 6(1)(a) GDPR) to add you to our waitlist and to send you updates. Optional marketing is only sent if you separately tick the marketing box, and we record the exact wording and the time you consented. You can withdraw consent at any time by unsubscribing or by contacting us.

6. Sharing & International Transfers

We do not sell your personal data. To operate our waitlist and send emails we use Resend, a trusted email service provider, which stores your name and email address on our behalf as our data processor.

Resend is based in the United States, so your data may be transferred outside the EU/EEA. These transfers are covered by the European Commission’s Standard Contractual Clauses (SCCs) and the EU–US Data Privacy Framework, under Resend’s Data Processing Agreement (DPA). We keep a copy of that DPA on file.

We may also disclose information where required by law or to protect our legal rights.

7. Data Retention

We only keep your data for as long as we need it:

• Waitlist signups are kept until launch and for up to 12 months afterwards, or until you unsubscribe or ask us to delete your data - whichever comes first.
• If you ask us to delete your data, we remove it from our database and from Resend within a reasonable period, unless we are legally required to retain it.

8. Your Rights Under GDPR

As an individual in the EU/Ireland, you have the right to:

• Access the personal data we hold about you.
• Request correction of inaccurate or incomplete data.
• Request erasure of your data (“right to be forgotten”).
• Object to or restrict how we process your data.
• Withdraw consent at any time.
• Lodge a complaint with the Irish Data Protection Commission (dataprotection.ie).

9. Cookies

This coming-soon site does not use tracking or advertising cookies, and there is no analytics. The only cookie we use is a strictly-necessary one that keeps our team’s admin login secure - so no cookie-consent banner is required.
